The prefecture has committed to authorising the demonstration.
Syngenta's site in Saint-Pierre-la-Garenne runs 24/7. Our massive presence during this mobilization will inevitably bring the site to a halt for at least 24 hours.
This action is meant to be beautiful and determined! Feel free to bring your finest banners and let your imagination run wild to create stunning visuals to shout your anger and denounce the abuses of Syngenta and the agrochemical complex.
How we will demonstrate:
- Many of us marching will be sick people, pesticide victims, peasants and chemical-industry workers. Please make sure we stay at the heart of the demonstration and support our initiatives throughout the day.
- We will protect the demonstration from possible abuses by the police, while avoiding confrontation with them.
- We will not try to enter the Syngenta site: our mass presence is enough to bring it to a halt in the days before and after the demonstration.
- We will gather even if the demonstration is banned, within the area directly affected by the Syngenta site.

Getting settled:
A campsite will host and feed protesters coming from afar, from Friday evening through Saturday: you can pitch your tent there.

Repeated pressure from the authorities on local farmers who could have lent a closer plot made finding a site difficult. The campsite, lent by a Confédération Paysanne farmer, will still host the farmers' party on Saturday evening!
Meals will be provided on site Friday evening, Saturday noon and Saturday evening.

By car: there are large car parks near the starting point of the demonstration, and people on site will direct you. Plenty of spaces (station, supermarkets, swimming pool, schools), but not unlimited, so carpooling is preferred.

How to organize a coach trip – example
- Contact the unions or associations best placed to book a coach with a driver (local Conf', Les Ami·es de la Conf', Attac, Solidaires…). This company offers competitive quotes: Request a quote from Transdev
- Set an average minimum fare for a round trip per person (whatever the route, it's simplest that way). People who want to contribute a bit more will help book seats for those with fewer resources. Some organizations may also chip in if needed.
- Launch an online registration via HelloAsso so participants can book and pay for their seats well ahead of departure.
- Big outreach: share your registration form with fellow activists. On the form, note a few details: the date, departure/return time, the route plus the time at each stop (allow 10-15 minutes buffer at each stop).
- Invite participants to install Signal to communicate in real time; for others, provide a contact email address.
- A maximum registration date will be needed (September 27, for example).
- Bring comfortable clothing, water, snacks, any medication, and songbooks.
- Taking into account the drivers' mandatory break, an arrival by 11am at the latest and a departure around 8pm at the earliest are feasible.
- Find a lead pair (calm and patient, with a big smile!) for each coach, who will preferably communicate via Signal with the travelers.
- Briefings on protest organization and legal matters will take place on the coaches.
- The lead(s) will stay in touch with people on site to coordinate protesters' arrival (drop-off point and/or coach parking area).

Public debate with researcher Soledad Castro, who studies the global pesticide trade and offers international perspectives on resistance against Syngenta and other agri-food corporations.

Walk and encounters in the city of Basel, where Syngenta has its headquarters
📍 Meeting point: the Münster ferry on the Rhine (Kleinbasel side)
A guided tour of Basel will take participants to places linked to pesticides, corporate responsibility and global supply chains. Talks and creative performances will provide background information and invite discussion. At the same time, a demonstration will take place in Valais, near Syngenta's industrial site in Monthey.
Public Eye's Basel regional group is actively taking part in the day of action in Basel, notably in the guided tour and with an information stand. Anyone interested can learn about Public Eye's work and about current challenges in human rights, the environment and corporate responsibility.

Members of Public Eye's French-speaking regional groups will also travel to Monthey. Laurent Gaberell, Public Eye's agriculture and food specialist, and Géraldine Viret, Public Eye's spokesperson, will also be there.
By car: CFF P+Rail car park (Route du Martoret, 31 spaces, CHF 6/day). Spaces are limited, so carpooling is recommended. Note that the “Gare CFF” car park right in front of the station is limited to 2 hours.

Why mobilise in Switzerland?
Switzerland is home to Syngenta's headquarters as well as strategic production sites. It is from our country that the world's number one pesticide seller invents, produces and exports substances, some of which are so dangerous that they are banned here. Yet they are sold massively elsewhere, where they poison farmers, water and soil. And it is from Monthey, where the plant producing Syngenta's chemical innovations is located, that more than 60 tonnes of 1,2,4-triazole were discharged into the Rhône, contaminating the drinking water of a million people around Lake Geneva (in the cantons of Vaud and Geneva, but also in neighbouring France).
While we pay for the clean-up with our taxes, Syngenta keeps filing appeals to block municipalities' access to information about the pollution. It sits on the official Swiss delegation to the COP and influences our laws. The authorities let it happen: controls left to the companies themselves, abandoned research into the health impact of PFAS and pesticides, a watered-down revision of the water protection ordinance, an almost total absence of prosecutions against water polluters. This silence is ours to break.
Do you drink water from Lake Geneva? You're affected. Do you farm, work the land, want to make a decent living from it? You're affected. Do you want an agriculture that feeds people, built on agroecology and a real farming income? Then join us. On October 3, actions will take place simultaneously on several continents. In Switzerland, we will be at the foot of the site that symbolises agrochemical impunity.
